Shoot for a balanced diet:
Fuel your body with nutritious meals that include a good balance of macronutrients. Aim to have 5-6 small meals per day to provide your body with the energy it needs. Avoid under-consuming, as rapid weight loss can lead to rebounds in the opposite direction. During these 6 weeks, be 100% committed to your nutrition plan. Afterward, you can maintain an 80% clean eating approach while indulging 20% of the time.
Step up your workouts:
If you’re already active and have a baseline of fitness, consider intensity training as your path to a summer body. High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is an effective workout style. These shorter workouts involve almost maximal-effort work periods followed by recovery periods, totaling 20-30 minutes. By working at near-maximum levels, you don’t need to exercise for extended periods. Don’t forget to incorporate resistance exercises to build muscle. While bodyweight exercises are great, adding weights will increase the challenge and force your body to adapt.
Track your progress:
Keep an exercise log to track your workouts and measure your progress. Having measurable goals helps with adherence and allows you to assess and increase the challenge in subsequent workouts. Proper hydration is essential for optimal performance and overall health. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to ensure your body can carry nutrients to cells and eliminate waste effectively. If plain water isn’t appealing, you can add a slice of lemon, orange, or cucumber with mint for flavor. Be cautious with pre-packaged beverages, as they often contain sodium or sugar. Try starting your day with a glass of water before coffee, have a full glass before every meal, and keep a measured bottle to track your water intake.
Incorporate extra movement:
Take advantage of the pleasant weather and longer days to add more movement to your daily routine. Consider going for walks with your family after dinner or during lunch breaks. Any form of extra movement contributes to overall calorie burn and improves your fitness level.
